This apartment is the ideal accommodation for a family of 4 people (2 adults + 2 children), looking for a central and safe place to stay. The unit has a fantastic location: it is on the first floor of a medieval building on Via della Scala, with the large windows of the living area overlooking Via della Scala itself.

The two day beds in the living area, with colored blankets and pillows, create a nice, comfortable and cheerful sitting area. The chest and the wooden cupboard furthermore give a countryside touch to this charming unit.

The dining table in front of the window allow you to enjoy the morning sunshine while having breakfast.

The open kitchen provides a gas stove, an oven, a fridge, a freezer and a dish washer. The kitchen is there to make your Italian cooking experience all the more enjoyable. This can come especially in handy on those evenings when all you want to do is relax in the peace and comfort of your own space.

The master bedroom, with a queen size bed, is on a low wooden mezzanine, making it a safe location even for children. Wooden wardrobes complete the furniture of this small but cozy room. The bathroom, completely renovated, has a shower.

On the whole, we recommend this central, safe and economical accommodation to anyone.

The Location

This apartment lies in a beautiful area of Trastevere, Rome’s most characteristic district. Via della Scala is right in the heart of this area, meaning you will be surrounded by plenty of restaurants and bars. These are all as charming as their surroundings, which consists of vine-covered buildings and tiny cobbled medieval roads. Trastevere’s atmosphere is one of a kind, especially come evening.

For a great sunset view, you can climb the Gianicolo Hill which lies just behind Trastevere. This will take you to the Piazzale Garibaldi. One one side of this piazza you can see the sun go down behind the cupola of St Peter’s Basilica, thus making for an unforgettable evening sight.

After watching the sunset, why not head to one of the ‘trattoria’ below? After this, a truly magical end to the day is wandering over to the Trevi Fountain. Go as late as possible, so that you can avoid the crowds that tend to congest this area during the day. When it is dark, the fountain is lit up beautifully creating an ethereal glow!

Crossing the Ponte Sisto you will moreover find yourself in one of the busiest areas of the historical center. This is right next to the Campo de’ Fiori. We recommend coming here in the mornings, when you can enjoy the daily market selling fresh produce!

We really enjoyed our stay in the Scala Apartment in Trastevere. From the get go we experienced a very professional service from everyone involved. The apartment it self is a testament to modern design with every desire catered for. I did not want to leave it. I cannot recommend this place enough. However for older guests the steps might be a bit mRead Moreuch but once you are up there it is well worth it! The driver service was also great. I will definitely be recommending the apartment to all my friends! 10 out of 10 from me.

«My sister and I were thrilled with our apartment in every way: the space itself ... »

My sister and I were thrilled with our apartment in every way: the space itself was large, well stocked, and had plenty of hot water. The location was fantastic--walking distance to the major tourist spots and close to public transport; there was a grocery store steps away and, of course, wonderful places for coffee, lunch, and dinner. Via della ScRead Moreala is a bustling place in the evenings--which we wanted--but bring your ear plugs if you are a light sleeper! Romeloft, as an agency, went WAY beyond the call of duty for us on a couple of occasions. I will certainly book my next Rome visit with Romeloft!
