“Should I stay in an apartment or in a hotel while in Rome?” Travelers often are undecided between booking an apartment or a hotel room. After experiencing our service, they understand that apartments can definitely provide a better quality/price ratio.
More space, more privacy, lower price are the main reasons why you should go for an apartment. And also better location: Romeloft’s apartments are located in the heart of the city center, where there are very few hotels. This is especially true in the area of Trastevere, the most typical district of the old Rome neighbourhoods.

We spent 10 days in the Piazza Mattei Terrace apartment at the beginning of January 2012. Had a wonderful time, the weather was nice and could be enjoyed each morning, when we had outr breakfast on the terrace and normally stayed out there, reading for an hour or two before going for the long daily walks. Due to the central location, we actually only used public transport once! Also, we used the airport transport offered by Romeloft, and that worked perfectly well. The apartment was in fine shape, very clean, well equipped and serviced, and quiet. It really was a luxury for two people. And then, on top of the apartment, to have an excellent baker on the ground floor! Hope to come back!
This would be an exceptionally good apartment for two traveling couples because the bedrooms are at opposite ends of the huge apartment, each with their own separate bathrooms, so there is plenty of privacy. But the shared spaces are also huge, and there is a quite nice dining room with a frescoed ceiling for sit-down meals. The apartment is located in an excellent zone for restaurants, both homey and elegant, and is extremely quiet, protected from street noise and neighbor noise. There are beautiful shops to browse in the area, plus a supermarket pretty much right around the corner. You can walk to a major bus stop to get to and from Termini station or the Vatican or the ancient Forum, and there is also a little shuttle bus nearby that will take you to the Villa Borghese. Plenty of closet and drawer space, comfortable beds and good water pressure in the showers. A very personal ambience in the unusual and pleasing decor. Feels like staying in the longtime home of a Roman university professor.

The apartment was simple terrible. We have a very bad experience. The location was qood, but the whole apartment was very very very dirty. One bathroom was the worst part because the entire bathroom became wet if you took a shower. Furthermore there were no towels, no additional toilet papers, uncomfortable beds, dark room, etc. The whole apartment was very smelly.

Just the perfect apartment for us! 75 meters distance of the Trevi Fontana, so well located to see all the hotspots and go back to the apartment to relax a bit with a cup of tea before going for further sightseeing. The apartment has a tasteful interior design and is exactly as shown on the photos. The kitchen is well equipped and there is a supermarket just around the corner, ideal for breakfast. The only disadvantage is that it can be noisy (noise of people at the street) at night, but the rest of my family did not have any problems with that.
We will surely recommend Romeloft to our friends and family.
We returned to Rome for a short stay before flying back home. This apartment is so cute! It was perfect for our short stay. The tiny elevator was so nice to have, and the decor of the apartment beautiful. The view from the terrace is very pretty, overlooking what seems to be a convent on one side, and the Palazzo Borghese on the other. Once again, picked this apartment for the terrace, hoping to enjoy evenings with wine and a peaceful end to the day. The terrace was better than the one we experienced at the Trevi Luxury Terrace apartment, but still had dead plants, no chairs and a very lonely rusted table. Didn’t fit at all with the loveliness of the inside of the apartment. We enjoyed walking everywhere from this apartment and found the best gelato just around the block which was a nice surprise! Sibilla arranged for transportation again for us, and that was a very nice amenity. Thank you for an enjoyable stay in Rome. We look forward to returning!
We arrived in Rome,tired and jetlagged and met our driver that Sibilla arranged for us- what a treat to not have to worry about transportation after flying all night. Our check in process went seamlessly- and we loved the apartment. Especially the air conditioning since Rome was very hot and sticky the entire time we were there. The bedroom was lovely, the living room had great room to spread out and relax after sightseeing all day. The first day we ran out of hot water while showering, but after that we learned how to time our showers to not have that problem. All in all, we had a great stay at this apartment. The only disappointment was the terrace, which is the reason I had picked this apartment. There was trash, dead plants and the table and chairs were so wobbly and uncomfortable that we gave up using that space. The apartment itself was lovely though. Sibilla was prompt in replying to questions while planning our trip and it was wonderful that she was able to help us arrange transportation to and from the airport. Thank you!

We’re back in NY (sob sob!!) after 5 beautiful days spent in Rome. Rome was magical, the weather incredible and walking around the city a great experience. This incredible apartment in Sant Onofrio was simply amazing and surely the highlight of our stay. So romantic and elegant and the view is simply breathtaking. we would sit for hours with a nice bottle of wine simply enjoying the view from every window.
The house is comfortable, cozy and had everything we needed.

I just want to thank you for your great communication and ease of booking with Rome Loft in Aug 2011. We stayed at Piazza Mattei, the 1 bedroom apartment with amazing terrace and beautiful little touches (coffee, sugar, soap, towels, milk, plants, lots of books etc).
Although I have been to Rome a few times before, this was the best place I have stayed due to the location, views, decor and the friendly apartment owner next door, Vittorio, he was a great help. Although the lift is a little scary, being so small and noisy, I wouldn’t get in it if I was by myself, I chose the 4 flights of stairs instead.
The location is unbeatable, particularly after long days in the city (most sights are within walking distance) to come home and relax on the terrace with wine, cheese, olives and salami – a perfect holiday. Being the end of summer, the air conditioner was great too.
My partner is working in London so this is the first time I have seen him in 6 months so we decided on a 3 week holiday through Italy, and Rome was the perfect place to end the trip.
I am coming back next year and will definitely book through Rome Loft again.

My husband and I have been to Rome multiple times and this apartment was one of the best choices we have ever made. We stayed at this gorgeous Via Dei Leutari paradise in July 2011 with our two children, ages 10 and 12. I can’t believe this place is rentable. The view is unbelievable, the kitchen/bath are perfectly outfitted and topnotch, the beds and linens are comfortable — we could even charge our ITouch/IPod on the docking station. My only regret is that we spent so little time at the apartment. I was literally choked up to leave and am already planning an opportunity to return with my girlfriends. The RomeLoft process was seamless, efficient, on-time for airport transport, and when we needed help in a pinch, they solved our problems within a couple of hours. Kudos to Silvia.

Yes like most people we had a great time in Rome.
The apartment meant a lot to us, and the owner book collection was absolutely fascinating while I was waiting for the kids to bath. A man after my own taste.
A central position is essential in Rome, especially if it gets hot and an afternoon nap is in order. Via di Monte Brianzo is very central and where you want to be. The Sicilian shop (La Cannoleria Siciliana) below had some of the best ice cream in Rome, and the owner should be consulted early on for advise on the best non-tourist restaurants. La Campagna (2nd road on the right) was one of those good restaurants.
I also love the relaxed attitude you guys have, and the fact the airport pickup etc was hassle free.

This is a fabulous apartment. I felt like we were in an Italian movie of the 50s or 60s. The apartment has so much personality; it is filled with paintings, antiques, books, Indian rugs, wonderful light fixtures…and a location that can’t be beat. It was perfect for us as we were a large party, so we really appreciated having two full bathrooms and four bedrooms. The kitchen is small, as it often is in that era of apartment, but the dining room was big and beautiful, and we often ate out.
We come to Rome often and this was hands down our best rental apartment. We will now only book from Rome Loft! Even the drive from the airport was great!

The Rome Loft team was extremely helpful with all the arrangements, from the transfer from the airport to all the questions I had beforehand. When we arrived, everybody was waiting for us already so we started our holiday perfectly. Choosing the apartment was the best thing we could do! It is a charming, well kept apartment in a great area. We could walk nearly everywhere in the city as it is very central. There are also loads of charming restaurants in the beautiful cobble stone streets around the apartment and a supermarket a few steps away! When we visit Rome again, we will definitely not stay anywhere else. Thanks to the team at Rome Loft for making our stay such a pleasant one!
My sister and I were thrilled with our apartment in every way: the space itself was large, well stocked, and had plenty of hot water. The location was fantastic–walking distance to the major tourist spots and close to public transport; there was a grocery store steps away and, of course, wonderful places for coffee, lunch, and dinner. Via della Scala is a bustling place in the evenings–which we wanted–but bring your ear plugs if you are a light sleeper! Romeloft, as an agency, went WAY beyond the call of duty for us on a couple of occasions. I will certainly book my next Rome visit with Romeloft!

We loved our ‘home from home’ in Rome and Rome Loft made it all very easy, with a ‘can-do’ attitude to slight variations in our arrival/departure arrangements. The airport transfer was exactly on time for departure (we had come by train) and the apartment was exactly what we needed, right in the Centro Storico. Wireless internet in the apartment very useful too!
We really enjoyed our stay in this apartment. It is lovely inside with lots of chic modern touches. The kitchen is well-equipped and we cooked a full meal there. The terrace is a real bonus and we sat out enjoying a glass of wine until the early hours. We explored the whole of Rome from the apartment on foot so it’s in a great location. Sibilla from Romeloft came to meet us to give us the keys. She was on time and lovely and friendly. She showed us how to use everything in the apartment and was really helpful in directing us to trains and a supermarket. We really enjoyed our stay in Rome and will definitely use Romeloft again on our next visit.
we arrived a little early, and our taxi driver did not know where to drop us off. We were a block away at the bottom of 100 steps. I called romeloft, and was told how to reach our building, and that someone would come immediately to let us in. We were shown the apartment and how to use everything by a very nice young man. He took me up to the upper terrace, and I gave a kiss on the cheek, because it was everything I had hoped for in location and views. the apartmt was very comfortable. we loved that we could open the terrace doors and get a breeze. We only used the cute little clothes washer and the microwave oven, so I can not report on all the appliances. We loved the location, because we could walk to so many of our destinations and the view was breathtaking from our terrace and dining area. We enjoyed wine and cheese on our upper terrace and just resting in the evening looking at all the lights. We were very thankful for the elevator also after climbing Rome’s hills all day. What I liked least: the hot tub was broken, and some of the floor on the lower terrace looked like it needed to be replaced. Neither bothered me in the least. It was just an observation.
We had a fantastic time – our apartment was lovely and the location felt really safe with a great buzz in the evening. Local shops and amenities on our doorstep accompanied by friendly locals. We hired bikes and that was by far the best – in fact only – way to really see and feel Rome. I would recommend the apartment and company to anyone visiting and it was by far our favourite city break to date.
We were very pleased with our stay at the Vatican large family apartment. Its location across the street from a grocery and near to restaurants was very convenient. We had room for our whole family (4 adults, 3 young children). It was very thoughtfully equipped with dishes, kitchen staples, dishwasher, clothes washer and drying rack, sufficient linens, and ample living space. We used the airport to apartment transfer option, which was helpful. It was a great experience and we would happily use them again if we return to Rome.

The view! The view! The view! This apartment has the most beautiful views of Rome. The apartment has everything you will need while in Rome. Try having breakfast on the terrace, especially if you are up to see the sun rise over the hills. The bed is comfortable and there is plenty of storage in the room. This apartment is located in a quiet residetial area but close enough to the bus line to get to all the sites easily.
Wonderful apartment right in the heart of Rome. We were just there for a weekend but felt like locals in our beautiful central space. Our flight was horribly delayed, but our transfer and host were waiting patiently until our arrival at 2.30am!! And kind enough to return my earrings that I accidently left behind as well. A very warm and personal experience that I thoroughly recommend if you want to feel like a visitor not just a tourist.
Everyone involved from Romeloft was very helpful and it made it so easy having the airport transfers arranged for us.
We loved the apartment. The interior space was excellent and worked very well for our group of 7, giving everyone room and privacy. The outside terrace was lovely .
The apartment is so well situated in the old Jewish ghetto within the Centro Storico, that we were able to walk to everywhere we wanted to see. The Colosseum was a 15 minute walk away and there were so many other historical sights on the way, I was exhausted before we arrived. Trastevere with its nightlife was just across the river Tiber and the Ghetto itself was quiet, but full of cafes, restaurants and shops. We didn’t use public transport even once.
We shall be back!
I have just enjoyed five wonderful days in Rome staying at Farnese apartment. The apartment is in a fabulous location, no more than 10 minutes walk from heaps of attractions, five minutes from the wonderful market at Campo del Fiori and just across the river from Trastevere. The apartment was clean, spacious and well equipped. It is in an area that is very quiet at night . The two restaurants in the Piazza are both very good. I found Romeloft staff to be most professional and helpful. A great experience
We, 3 adults, stayed in this aprtment for 8 nights and enjoyed it very much. This apartment house is located in a VERY lively area above and around restaurants/bars. The neighborhood offers tons of restaurants, gelato, and cute little specialty shops. Walking around the city was easy and the scenery was beautiful. The apartment was very roomy with two bedrooms and two full baths (2 WC and 2 showers). The hot water was something left to be desired though as the water in the showers never seemed to get above or near lukewarm. The kitchen was fully equipped for cooking meals; complete with spices. In the back bedroom during the evening hours (11pm-2am) you could enjoy listening to the Mamma Mia cast practice harmonizing/singing in the next apartment. The restaurants do not open to serve dinner until at least 7:30pm (8pm for some); but there is a huge selection in this neighborhood to choose from- all were good.
Just wanted to say that our stay was fantastic! The automatic moka, super comfy bed, amazing shower and terrace really made our stay. The Trastevere is a fantastic area too!!
Just down the street try Ristorante La Scala for an amazing dinner and Ristocampo for the most delicious panini!!
The stay at the Campitelli terrace penthouse was fantastic! We had a great time in the city and the apartment was the best place to rest our feet!

My family and I stayed for a week at the fantastic Trastevere loft apartment on Via Della Scala.
We found the accommodations to be comfortable, modern and highly functional. We even cooked a 5 course Italian meal in the fully equipped kitchen–just had to provide the food! Lorenzo & Sybilla were very attentive to our needs and made themselves approachable and easy to reach. A cell phone was provided especially for this reason which is quite helpful to Americans traveling abroad with (gasp now..) NO cell phone service!
The location in Trastevere was PERFECT! Convenient to the centro storico including Campo dei Fiori and Piazza Navona only a fews steps away on the Ponte Sisto plus fantastic access to the Isola Tiberna and all its summer festiviites. Trastevere has a lively and distinctive character of its own which we found to be our personal slice of Italy right a our doorstep.
I highly recommend Rome Loft to any travelers wishing for an authentic experience pleasantly distinct from the regular tourist trail!
Our stay in the Trastevere Luxury Penthouse was wonderful. Lorenzo and Sibilla are very responsive and professional, and we are very happy to have them as new friends. The concierge service that comes with the rental was also extremely helpful with all kinds of reservations, car services, and recommendations. This particular apartment is extremely fun and comfortable to live in, with its incredible light, expansive terrace, spectacular views and casual decor. And of course Trastevere is a great destination itself, as well as being right across the pedestrian bridge from the city center. I stayed here together with 10 friends (2 apartments – also the Vicolo Cinque!)and I can’t recommend ‘Rome Loft’ as a company enough! They were very professional, the apartments are exactly like they are in the photos, and they did everything they could to make our stay perfect. They also organised a chef to cook for us in the apartment on the Saturday night – there were 11 of us eating out under the stars on the fantastic terrace in Vicolo Cinque – amazing. Rome is amazing, and make your trip a good one – book with Rome Loft!
We rented this apartment for 3 nights and it was exactly as advertised – very elegant, Roman apartment in a location second to NONE! The apartment is spacious and comfortably accommodates 6 people (2 doubles, 2 singles). It is however, “lived in” the owner’s personal possessions are in the apartment but put away in cupboards so it’s not like going to a completely empty, hotel style apt. This wasn’t a problem for us whatsoever and, in fact, made it feel more homely and inviting. There is a lovely cafe next door where you can eat breakfast from 7am (very accommodating to one of our party who is a coeliac, they happily made her a sandwich using her own bread). It’s also an ice cream parlour, restaurant and bar. While you are here book Da Mario restaurant one minute from the apt which serves fantastic, reasonably priced food with top class service. The concierge service attached to the apartment was also very helpful for booking restaurants but really everything is on your doorstep including a taxi rank right outside. Would definitely use romeloft again – bonus also that it’s more cost effective than a hotel when there’s a group.
Really enjoyed Rome. Seven of us stayed here, we all loved the apartment, it was a nice base for exploring the city, the decor and the chance to cook for ourselves made for a relaxing break. Paolo was friendly and helpful. Lorenzo replied promptly to my e-mails. Grazie. Ciao.
